We have a herd of beef cattle usually about 20 animals, these are kept for their beef. The cows calve once a year in the spring and usually live outside all year. They live near to the farmyard in the summer so we can keep a close watch on them and their calves, and in the winter they live in the sheltered wooded valley between Hinderwell and Newton Mulgrave or on the grassy banks down to the harbour at Port Mulgrave. They are Blonde d’Aqutaine. They is a range of colours from golden yellow, reddish brown, grey and dark brown. All of the cows are tame, most being very friendly, and used to people.
We have a flock of sheep, mainly of Masham and Mule breeds. They lamb in the months of January and February and the lambs are sold around June. All the arable crops grown on our farm are used as feed for our animals. We also have a very friendly sheepdog, usually a horse and there are cats which are very friendly. We keep hens and visitors are welcome to assist in collecting fresh eggs.

We like to show our visitors around the farm, either by taking them on a long walk or having a ride on the Quad bike – a four-wheel motorbike – really a big boy’s toy – but great fun!!
Visitors are most welcome to help on the farm either by coming along to help us feed the livestock, move them from field to field, or watch when the vets call. Visitors usually enjoy watching the sheep being dipped or sheared. Children enjoy feeding the baby lambs in the spring and the cows usually calve in the summer. As it is a working farm there is always something to be done.
We believe that our past visitors return again and again because it is such a special place to take a holiday. We are situated close to lots of local amenities and there are plenty of local hostelries to visit. We trust you will have a pleasant and relaxing holiday with us
